There is much more to community than what surrounds you. It’s about what runs deeper and supports you -- how your community came to be, what it currently is.

As a west-Indian American, I seek to expand on an inquiry of ”what is community?” And how is community represented?

Using photo references from my own life, I seek to incorporate my own experience of growing up in two different countries and two communities.

Seeking to incorporate traditional communal representation like quilting alongside collage, painting and photography, the common thread of my thesis is the importance of community. I hope to find the stories that help represent the underbelly of what society sees as interesting and important.
